Well, hello!

I thought I would just post hello and see if anyone notices.  It's been a long time since anyone has posted on this blog.  Do you remember it's here?

In Memory of Aunt Lois

January 23rd was a sad day for family and friends who knew Aunt Lois. Our family had the opportunity to live with Aunt Lois for a year when we moved from Arizona to Utah and we were waiting for our house to be built in Tooele. During that time Skyler and Elizabeth developed a bond with her almost as if she were another grandmother to them. Over the years we enjoyed being close to her and often had Aunt Lois join us for Christmas Eve, special occasions, dinners and just because... We cherish those times and will remember them always. We will miss our Aunt Lois, she was an angel here on earth who loved to serve others. She was a great example to all who knew her.

Now we wait...

I don't know if our family really checks this that much but for an update. I had and appt on Monday and I am 80% effaced and 4 centimeters dilated. He doesn't think I will make it to my due date this Sunday. David and I freaked out and ran all our last minute errands pack and re-packed a hospital bag and cleaned our house. Now we wait but we are ready. The last two days have been the longest ever but what can you do?

Yamaha Clavinova Festival

Washburn Piano Company in Goodyear hosted a Yamaha Clavinova Festival at their store on November 17, 2007. Elizabeth played Jumpin' Jazz Cat and did great! It was a fun time for everyone. The store even gave away a brand new Clavinova at the end of the festival and one of my students won!

Sassy

Sassy died peacefully on Nov. 9th around 4:45pm with family at her side- Rick, Jennifer, Skyler and Elizabeth. She was 11 1/2 years old.

We adopted Sassy almost 8 years ago from the Humane Society. It was after I saw her on the local news station as the pet of the week that I knew she was the right dog for our family. I called Rick up to see if we could try to get her. He said yes, thinking there was no way that I would be able to get her since she was on T.V. Surely someone would beat me to it. Well, he quickly learned that when I'm determined- watch out! So I headed down to the Humane Society and waited for the doors to open along with a lot of other people, which made me really nervous that they might have been there for Sassy too. When the doors opened I went to the front desk and asked if Sassy was still there. They said I have to go in the back and look for her, if she was to come back and let them know. So I raced to the back and was able to find her pretty quickly, then raced back to the front and told them I wanted to adopt her. Not even a minute later several others came up and the phone start ringing with people wanting to adopt Sassy as well. But I was first! I felt like I won a contest with all the people wanting to adopt her.

One of the pictures that you will see is Sassy stuck in the fence. The front picture of her is kind of gross but the memory of it will always make us laugh. When we lived in Tooele, UT Sassy would crawl under the fence to get out. On one occasion she got stuck. Really stuck. It reminded us of the story of Winnie the Pooh when he got stuck in the hole. So Sassy quickly got the nickname Sassy the Pooh. We ended up having the call Animal Control to help get her out.

Sassy was also known as drummer dog with her heavy but never ending wagging tail. Even at her last moments she was wagging her tail. There were even occasions of her wagging her tail to the beat of one of my piano students playing on the piano- a live metronome! We will remember the walks she liked to go on even though we weren't very good at taking her on them enough, how gentle she was to everyone around her, how patient she was with Elizabeth dressing her up and using her as a pillow, dancing with me and Elizabeth and how she followed me around the house. She has given us many good memories.

We will miss you Sassy!

8 is Great!

Welcome to The Holdaway Family blog. We created this blog so that we can share with each other everything that is happening in our families. We can also use this website to share pictures and videos with each other.

Today we had the grand fortune of going to Teya's baptism. It was a very exciting day with an exciting after baptism birthday party. Here are some pictures of the event. I was going to post the video I took, but apparantly the file was too large.

Mom and Dad Vacation Pictures

This is the sacred grove entry path. The grove itself is quite large and it would be easy to get lost in. The statue is a beautiful rendition of the first vision. Notice that Eloheim has on arm around his son while introducing him. This seems to help emphasize the relationship that a father would have towards his son. The next picture was one of the Hill Commorah. What struck me is how steep his hill was. If he had to go to the top of the hill it would be quite a climb. This hill is quite a way from his home where he took the plates. There was plenty of opportunity for Joseph to be attacked with the distance he had to go.
